CONSUMERS & SOCIETY

We are also well aware of our responsibility to Jack Wolfskin customers. After all, they are the reason why we aspire to move forward every day and put all of our energies and expertise into research for new and innovative products.

Commercial responsibility towards customers covers a wide range of aspects – at Jack Wolfskin these are grouped into the following key areas:

  • Chemical safety

  • Product safety

  • Ethical concerns

1) Chemical safety

  • In its GreenBook (a catalogue containing an overview of requirements related to contaminants), Jack Wolfskin defines very stringent guidelines for chemical substances including those which are used for dying or reinforcing clothing.
Every supplier wishing to produce clothing, equipment or shoes for Jack Wolfskin is required to provide a contractual guarantee of compliance with the standards we specify in our GreenBook.

  • We regularly initiate checks of a high percentage of our items to be carried out by an independent, accredited laboratory before they are delivered to our customers. This is in addition to the sets of tests commissioned by our suppliers.

  • All Jack Wolfskin products comply fully with the strict requirements set by the Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 with regard to harmful substance content in consumer textile products. Jack Wolksin has also voluntarily set limits for additional substances that are concurrent with the Eco-Tex Standard 100 but are in some instances even stricter. These are summarized in the Green Book.

  • The requirements related to children’s clothing are even more stringent at Jack Wolfskin than those for adult clothing.

  • REACH has placed on the SVHC candidate list.
