During the time since it was founded, the Society has successfully implemented a new concept for the support of disabled children, a concept that has now been adopted across Germany as a model set of guidline principles for best practice work methods in socio-paediatric centres.
"Caring for a disabled child can be a huge mental, physical and financial burden for the family. The development of a disabled child is largely dependent on how well this challenge is met. The therapeutic help available must therefore be aimed both at the parents and the children themselves," explains Prof. Dr. Hans G. Schlack, chairperson and founder of the Bonn Society.
