We have collaborated intensively with Arved Fuchs for over 12 years.His major projects SEA, ICE AND MOUNTAINS (1995/96), ARCTIC PASSAGES (1997/98), SHACKLETON (2000), the navigation of the North-East Passage (2002) and RING OF FIRE (2003) were promoted and supported by JACK WOLFSKIN.
Jack Wolfskin also supported the follow-up to RING OF FIRE in the 2004 summer season under the title ICEBOUND 2004, which represented the conclusion of the expedition and whose success meant that Arved Fuchs had completely circumnavigated the north polar region in his sailing ship, the Dagmar Aaen.
Since 2007, Jack Wolfskin has sponsored ICE CLIMATE EDUCATION (I.C.E.), a project set up by Arved Fuchs, which focuses on educating the next generation of scientists and on the related transfer of knowledge from polar research to schools and the general public.In an international competition held each year, pupils can qualify for a week-long stay at a youth camp, where with experts they discuss and are informed about current environmental problems, particularly in the Arctic.
The aim is that the young people should return to their schools as “climate ambassadors”, where they will report on the consequences and effects of global warming and suggest further climate projects.
