In the December 2009 issue, the editors of Outdoor magazine tested twelve soft shell winter jackets.
Over a total of five weeks, these soft shell winter jackets were put through their paces on high-altitude mountain tours in Switzerland and on numerous hikes in the highlands of Germany. During this time, six testers focused on aspects such as fit, freedom of movement, user-friendliness of the pockets and the effectiveness of the ventilation options provided. They also looked at hood fit and climate comfort.
The "Supersonic XT" from Jack Wolfskin scored well in all categories and was rated "good".
Summary of the editorial staff:
A good-value, warm and weatherproof soft shell jacket that is ideally suited for day-to-day use. It is also a good choice for medium-level hiking tours.
