GLOSSARY OF TERMS

Very light, high quality 100 quality fleece from the Italian manufacturer PONTETORTO with both sides ‘roughed up’ to deliver fantastic comfort and wearability. Good thermal efficiency, extremely short drying time and very high breathability ratings.

TENCEL COOL’N SMOOTH is a functional fabric with a cool, soft hand – perfect for very hot temperatures and very kind to sunburned skin. The fabric also has anti-microbial characteristics, which combats the formation of bacteria and associated unpleasant odours in the material. The totally smooth fabric surface and reduced fibre rigidity give irritation-free wearability. Sourced a natural, sustainable, bio-degradable resource, TENCEL is manufactured from the natural cellulose found in wood pulp.

A lightweight, high tearstrength polyamide fabric with ripstop characteristics. An additional protective layer on the coating dispenses with the need for a lining. Used to make lightweight weatherproof clothing with a compact pack size.

The smooth OXFORD NYLON shell material is tough and has an inner surface that is coated with TEXPORE 4X4. This microporous PU coating makes the fabric waterproof, windproof and breathable. The material has a MVTR of 4000g/m2/24h and a water column specification of 4000mm.

A waterproof, breathable and robust weather protection material. It has a similar abrasion resistance and durability to our classic TEXAPORE TASLAN 2L but is slightly lighter. Hydrostatic head: 4000 mm; moisture vapour transmission rate (MVTR): 4000 g/m²/24 h.

The most significant additional attributes of this weatherproof shell fabric are its dynamic breathability and the freedom of movement it provides. The yarns in the fabric have mechanical stretch properties, which gives it a 15% cross stretch specification. The special feature of this stretch version of TEXAPORE AIR is the fact that, in addition to the usual waterproof and windproof performance, it is also air permeable. This allows constant air exchange to occur through the fabric, which supports and enhances the conventional moisture vapour transmission through the microporous coating. The more you move, the more air is exchanged and the more breathable the fabric becomes. We call this “dynamic breathability”. The key feature of this new 3-layer laminate is its air permeability, which significantly enhances the already exceptional moisture vapour transmission rate of TEXAPORE O3 through a process known as ‘dynamic breathability’. The membrane exhibits the usual windproof and waterproof performance but is additionally air permeable. This results in exchange (convection) over the entire surface of the fabric, a process that accelerates with increased physical activity.

An extremely abrasion-resistant TEXAPORE material made of a robust polyamide fabric with a microporous polyurethane (PU) coating. It is windproof, waterproof with a hydrostatic head rating of 6,000 mm and breathable with a moisture vapour transmission rate (MVTR) of 9,000g/m²/24h. The material is used as an abrasion guard in waterproof weather protection clothing at particularly important areas, such as shoulders, the rucksack waist belt area, knees and elbows.

This 3-layer laminate delivers the highest combined values for waterproofing and breathability currently achievable! This is made possible through the use of a reinforced membrane with special catalytic technology. A protective mesh on the reverse side renders a conventional lining unnecessary, which saves weight. In general, our waterproof footwear features a waterproof and breathable membrane incorporated into the footwear in a ‘bootie’ construction. The membrane bootie encapsulates the foot from the sole upwards and extends to about two thirds of the height of the uppers. Our TEXAPORE footwear utilises a 4-layer laminate, which consists of a support fabric (mesh), the membrane itself, a backing fabric and the lining material. The two versions of TEXAPORE, TEXAPORE O2 and TEXAPORE O3, differ in terms of membrane performance and backing fabrics and have different moisture vapour transmission rates (breathability). TEXAPORE O2 is: - a 4-layer laminate - waterproof - very breathable

A slightly lighter version of our proven weather protection laminate, TEXAPORE O2 DENSUS 2L. The fabric has a slightly less dense and durable weave but has a softer, more natural texture, which is due in part to the taslanised (crimped) yarns. Weight: 128 g/m2; hydrostatic head: 20,000 mm; MVTR: 20,000 g/m2/24h.

This weather protection laminate is light, stretchy and very breathable. The outer surface consists of textured, crimped yarns and has a pleasant cotton-like feel. It is these crimped yarns that deliver the 20% cross stretch specification. Weight: 143 g/m2; hydrostatic head: 20,000 mm; MVTR: 15,000 g/m2/24 h.

A lightweight, hard wearing weather protection material. An additional protective layer on the waterproof and highly breathable PU coating means that the fabric needs no lining. This keeps its weight and pack size to an absolute minimum. Hydrostatic head: 20,000 mm; MVTR: 15,000 g/m²/24 h.

The most breathable waterproof and lightweight two-ply laminate, it boasts an extremely high moisture vapour transmission rate of 40,000 g/m2/24 h and a water column rating of 20,000mm. These incredibly high ratings are achived by combining a closed-cell PU membrane with an open-pored catalytic layer. The support fabric is a light (146g/m²) and elastic polyester. Garments made from TEXAPORE O4 EVO STRETCH 2L have an extremely compact pack size and the active stretch properties deliver outstanding freedom of movement.

TEXAPORE SMOOTHLIGHT 2L is a waterproof and breathable fabric that is characterised by its super-soft, rustle free finish. The face fabric consists of a fine grade nylon twill with a matt look. In spite of its low intrinsic weight (158g/m²) the material is durably robust. A microporous PU coating is applied to the inner surface, which delivers an MVTR of 9.000g/m²/24h and a water column of 6.000mm.

Robust, textile feel polyester material. The TASLAN yarn has tiny little 'bristles' on the outer surface that give the fabric a cotton-like touch and improve the abrasion resistance. 100% polyamide. Waterproof spec: 6,000 mm water column; MVTR: 9,000g/m²/24h.

A robust version of TEXAPORE with kinetic stretch properties. The robustness comes from the use of taslanised (crimped) yarns, while the stretch comfort (20% cross stretch) is due to the 6% elastane content. Weight: 157 g/m2; hydrostatic head: 6,000 mm; MVTR: 9,000 g/m2/24 h.

A lightweight Taslan polyamide fabric. This weight-optimised version of TEXAPORE TASLAN 2L is similarly resistant to mechanical abrasion and just as hard wearing as the original but slightly lighter. Hydrostatic head: 6,000 mm, MVTR: 9,000 g/m2/24 h.

The TEXAPORE coating is here applied to a very lightweight base material and is used as a hung mid-layer between the shell material and the lining.

A slightly warmer version of our EYELET Q.M.C. S. FRESH fabric. This bipolar knit fabric is used for our functional base layer T-shirts. It has a smooth and soft reverse side made from polypropylene and Q.M.C. (Quick Moisture Control) polyester, which wicks moisture (sweat) quickly away from the body and leaves the skin feeling warm and dry. The Q.M.C. fibres of the outer surface of the fabric have a special ‘eyelet’ structure, which creates an artificially enlarged surface area for faster evaporation of sweat, while at the same time allowing the minimum level of evaporative cooling necessary to control body temperature. The fabric also benefits from the natural antimicrobial properties of S.FRESH technology, with integrated silver salts (often sourced from seawater) that limit the formation of bacteria in the fibres of the fabric and thus help prevent unpleasant odours. The healthy skin bacteria remain unaffected.

New robust yet lightweight multi-functional sole for hiking boots featuring a flexible abrasion-resistant rubber outsole with a tread profile that ensure optimum grip and safety in all terrain. The lightweight EVA midsole ensure very good hiking comfort and excellent cushioning.

A stable and well cushioned hiking sole for easy terrain and long walks with a light pack. The construction consists of three components: 1. A sophisticated tread configuration, which delivers top-notch traction and support on all types of terrain. 2. A light and flexible EVA midsole for outstanding cushioning. 3. A removable shock absorbing EVA inlay sole with a shock pad integrated into the heel section for additional cushioning. The inlay consists of two EVA components of different densities: softer in the front of foot area and harder in the middle of the foot and the heel areas.
