NATURAL PARK EIFEL

The Eifel is one of the most beautiful and diverse natural landscapes in Germany. The Hohes Venn-Eifel Natural Park Authority is committed to maintaining and conserving these natural landscapes.

Natural diversity

The German-Belgian Hohes Venn-Eifel natural park covers an area of around 2,700 square kilometres and stretches across the states of North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate and into the east of Belgium.

It offers outstanding natural diversity, including upland moors, rivers, streams as well as 15 lakes and dams, a colourful variety of species in the chalklands of the Eifel, forested hills in the Upper Eifel and the foothills of the volcanic Eifel region. At the heart of the natural park is the Eifel, North Rhine-Westphalia's only national park.

The Hohes Venn-Eifel natural park has become one of the most important areas of natural beauty in Germany. The natural park authority combines innovative projects with the traditions and values of the rural Eifel.

Since 2008, we have supported the Hohes Venn-Eifel natural park authority in its efforts to protect the nature and landscape of the region as well as to promote sustainable tourism so that visitors can enjoy the nature, landscape and culture to their heart's content.
