e German-Belgian Hohes Venn-Eifel natural park covers an area of around 2,700 square kilometres and stretches across the states of North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate and into the east of Belgium.
It offers outstanding natural diversity, including upland moors, rivers, streams as well as 15 lakes and dams, a colourful variety of species in the chalklands of the Eifel, forested hills in the Upper Eifel and the foothills of the volcanic Eifel region. At the heart of the natural park is the Eifel, North Rhine-Westphalia's only national park.
The Hohes Venn-Eifel natural park has become one of the most important areas of natural beauty in Germany. The natural park authority combines innovative projects with the traditions and values of the rural Eifel.
