Jack Wolfskin joins the Fair Wear Foundation
On 1 July 2010, Jack Wolfskin became an official member of the Fair Wear Foundation (FWF).
The FWF is a multi-stakeholder initiative that aims to create and promote humane labour conditions along the entire value chain of the textiles industry. The FWF works with companies that want to take responsibility for their value chain and supports them with, among other things, the exchange of expert knowledge, dialogue and an improvement-orientated approach.
The Fair Wear Foundation was founded in 1999 in the Netherlands at the initiative of trade associations, trade unions and non-governmental organisations (NGOs), which is why it is described as a “multi-stakeholder initiative”.
The Board consists of an independent chairperson and representatives from the following areas:

Why did Jack Wolfskin decide to join the FWF?
The approach taken by the FWF and the system implemented by Jack Wolfskin in 2008 for monitoring social standards have much in common and indeed complement each other in many areas, so it made sense for Jack Wolfskin to get involved with a credible multi-stakeholder initiative like the FWF. Jack Wolfskin has done much in the area of corporate social responsibility (CSR), and by joining the FWF it has made another important step towards promoting responsible conduct and creating even greater transparency for suppliers, employees and customers alike. As an independent, external body, the FWF will in future be responsible for monitoring and verifying suppliers’ compliance with the Code of Conduct. It will also assess what measures have been taken to improve labour conditions in Jack Wolfskin’s production countries.
