GLOSSARY OF TERMS

A hydrophobic 100% polyester fabric with active moisture management capabilities.

The capillary structure of the fibres absorbs moisture and shifts it to the surface of the fabric, where it can dissipate readily.

The effect is accelerated by the different structures and characteristics of the two component layers.

A water-repellent and hard-wearing polyester fabric.

An extremely lightweight, dual layer, soft shell weave that provides wind and weather protection.

Specially developed for winter use. The inner layer is made of a long pile fleece. Longer hairs trap air molecules, keeping the wearer warmer.

A virtually windproof, extremely breathable, 2-ply SOFTSHELL fabric with water-repellent outer surface and a lining made of semi-long (lowloft) fleece. More warming air is trapped between the longer fibres of this fleece than is the case with others, such as a short-pile velour fleece.

A virtually windproof, highly breathable SOFTSHELL laminate.

The outer layer is made of a permanently water and dirt-repellent polyester fabric.

The inside layer, which comprises a polyester microfleece with weight-saving "waffle" structure, regulates the transportation of moisture and offers gentle heat retention.

This lightweight, flexible hiking and leisure sole was developed specially for the winter months. Its medium tread ensures good grip in snow and mud. The FREEZER sole is made up of the following elements:

- a robust rubber outsole with more space between the ridges of the tread design than normal soles to ensure better grip;
- cushioning that is provided by the lightweight EVA midsole and the ergonomically shaped EVA insole, which has a moisture-regulating polyester covering;
- an aluminium layer that has been integrated into the footbed and reflects some of the heat.

A very light, dense weave polyester ripstop fabric made from extremely fine 30 denier yarns, used as a shell fabric for our MICROGUARD interlined apparel. The double ripstop construction, with reinforced cross threads woven into the fabric, delivers a high tearstrength spec. A DWR finish renders the fabric durably water repellent, while the use of full dull yarns gives the fabric its signature matt finish.

We use this lightweight, fibreproof nylon fabric among other things as a shell fabric for quilted jackets. Thanks to its RIP STOP construction (reinforcement threads are woven into the fabric), the material is lightweight yet resistant to rips and tears.

Our tried and tested and widely-used functional material. It is made of 65% polyester und 35% cotton fine yarns that can be woven very close together.

FUNCTION 65 combines the advantages of both materials: The textile has the good looks and feel of cotton with the robustness and lasting shape of polyester.

In a special process, the fine yarn is often woven into a thin, water-resistant shell material.

The reverse side has a polyurethane coating to support the windproof function and strengthen the material. It also ensures that FUNCTION 65 feels dry on the skin even when wet.
