GLOSSARY OF TERMS

The durable 1000D basic fabric is coated on both sides (cf. truck tarp) and is the ideal extreme-use fabric.

A thin, practically windproof, lightweight fabric made from extremely tightly woven microfibres and used in for summer Softshells.

The double weave fabric has a smooth rip-stop face side and brushed reverse side that offers limited thermal insulation and has a very soft feel.

The fabric benefits from a durable water repellent finish. Used in soft shells designed for wear in warmer temperatures.

A lightweight, extremely absorbent and fast drying cloth with a towel-like surface. The capillary power of the microfibres used in its construction give the cloth its extremely high absorbent performance. Used in our trekking towels.

MICROGUARD is a dual layer artificial fibre fill material made of two components and delivers effective and comfortable insulation at a minimum weight. Originally designed for sleeping bags, we use it in our padded winter clothing for its warmth/ low-weight properties.

The first component is a layer of fine micro fibres to provide optimal insulation at a minimum weight, a soft feel and superb compressibility (MICRO).
The second component is a stabilising outer layer of thermally bonded mixed fibres to provide a good loft and durability (GUARD). We use different strengths of MICROGUARD, depending on what it is to be used for.

With MICROGUARD SILVER, a thin layer of fleece with bonded SILVER particles warms you up faster and gently retains heat.
MICROGUARD MAXLOFT is a particularly generous quilted interlining that has a down-like warmth-to-weight ratio and hollow fibres that trap even more warming air.

MICROGUARD SOFT SILVER is a synthetic sleeping bag interlining material characterised by its super-soft feel, very compact pack size and very rapid warm-up performance. It consists of two types of synthetic fibres:

1. Spiral fibres for lasting stability and loft (MICRO).

2. Ultra-thin hollow fibres, which trap plenty of air and thus guarantee effective insuulation (GUARD).

3. An additional component is a thin layer of fleece fabric with embedded metallic particles. This reduces the warm-up time, provides longer lasting warmth and reflects back some of the body heat (SILVER).

A super-soft polyamide fabric, extremely light, very durable and downproof. We use it as an inner fabric on our down sleeping bags.

The fine, close meshed mosquito net is light, slide-proof and at the same time very stable. As a material for inner tents, it ensures good ventilation in the interior and even keeps the infamous midges (NO-SEE-UMS) out.
