In August, the team behind the website “der-outdoor-tester.de” tested the Activate Pants from Jack Wolfskin, which proved to be the “ideal alpine legwear for hiking through rough terrain.” The testers were particularly impressed with the product’s ability to keep out the cold. The trekking pants were awarded top marks for freedom of movement and wearing comfort, although they dropped a point for breathability: “Unfortunately, the Activate Pants did not release all of the body heat in response to increased physical activity (e.g. during ascents), although this is the price you will have to pay for wind and water resistance.“ Overall, the editors were still satisfied and awarded four out of a possible five stars.
SUMMARY:
“The Activate Pants from Jack Wolfskin are good-quality and highly flexible all-round legwear with an outstanding price-performance ratio. The elastic soft shell material of the Activate Pants offers tremendous freedom of movement, which is particularly welcome during steep ascents. The material is comfortable on the skin and highly effective at repelling moderate rainfall. Tunnel cords on the trouser legs allow the trouser seam to be pulled tight around the leg, which prevents stones and other foreign bodies from getting into your boots. The only drawback identified during testing was the right thigh pocket. If you put anything in it, walking becomes a little more awkward and square-edged items in this position can chafe at the thigh.“
