Touring rucksacks were put to the test in "Outdoor" magazine under the title "Supporting parts". 22 models were available for selection, each with a volume between 30 and 50 litres.

These walking companions were tested in the "wearing comfort", "handling/structure", "weight/volume" and "quality" categories. The compact rucksack Cross Terra 40 from Jack Wolfskin was especially positive with its rain cover which provides protection against moisture. The Cross Terra 40 was convincing in terms of "quality" and received 4 out of a possible 5 stars in this category.

The summary from the testers: "Small, heavy rucksack which is comfortable to wear when hiking". Overall, the Cross Terra 40 was rated as "good".
