TESTED

In September, the team behind the website “der-outdoor-tester.de” put the Hoggar Nano-Tex Pants to the test. Thanks to their robust finish, the unlined trekking pants, designed for use in extreme conditions, promise to provide a pleasant level of comfort even after several days spent far from civilisation. An Alpencross extreme tour was intended to test whether the trousers delivered on their promise. The testers were given a very promising first impression: “The Hoggar Nano-Tex Pants feel light and pleasant to the touch right from the outset. However, the material is also very robust and hard-wearing at the same time.”

The ventilation slits achieved particularly positive results in the test, enabling the body temperature to be regulated in the case of increasing temperatures or an increase in physical activity. The Jack Wolfskin trekking pants were also awarded additional plus points for their pockets. Two front pockets, two back pockets and two leg pockets provide enough space for maps and travel guides. However, the testers were less impressed by the leg fastening of the Hoggar Nano-Tex Pants and perceived this to be a design fault. This is controlled by a zip, which proved, in practice, to be somewhat awkward to unzip.

SUMMARY:

The overall conclusion of the editorial team was positive: “The Hoggar Nano-Tex Pants by Jack Wolfskin are light-weight and comfortable outdoor legwear for use in average temperatures. The pants are dirt-resistant and scrub-resistant. The Hoggar Nano-Tex Pants are not recommended for use on rainy days, although they do dry relatively quickly. However, the pants will still repel a few drops of light drizzle. The majority of the Hoggar Nano-Tex’s pockets are very practical. Even the rather large thigh pocket for storing maps does not hinder the wearer when walking.”

The Hoggar Nano-Tex Pants performed very well in the test, achieving four out of a possible five points.
