Code of conduct for fair and safe working conditions

The compliance to our requirements is regularly monitored by independent inspectors.

We do not operate any own factories. Our products are manufactured by our partners, mainly based in Asia and some in Europe. Therefore we feel all the more responsible for ensuring that all those who work for us do so according to uniform and fair legal labour standards. That’s why in 2007, we defined a code of conduct with eight specifications.

Our code of conduct is based on the charter of human rights as outlined by the United Nations as well as the conventions of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and is the binding component of every business relationship with a supplier. An on-site team in Idstein takes care of the continuous introduction of our standards with our production partners worldwide and supports them in their implementation. We develop the awareness of our suppliers and their workforce by means of training and advice and thereby ensure the constant improvement of working conditions.

As well as this, we have regularly monitored the compliance to our requirements on-site in the factories through independent inspectors and also the Fair Wear Foundation (FWF) since 2010 – and have done so with 100% of our partners in mind. The audit report of these visits is published by us on our supply chain website.
To ensure that every employee also knows their rights – as only this way can they demand them – our Code of Conduct is hung up in every one of our supply chain partner sites, in a clearly visible way and written in the respective native language.

The eight standards for fair working conditions are:
  1. No forced labour
  2. No discrimination in the workplace
  3. Child labour is not tolerated
  4. There is freedom of association and collective negotiations
  5. A living wage should be provided
  6. Reasonable working hours should be given
  7. Safe and healthy working conditions should be provided
  8. Every employee should have a legally binding employment contract
