Jack Wolfskin Tapeless 2.0 Jacket Improves Seam Strength and Apparel Performance

IDSTEIN, Germany (April, 2023) – Jack Wolfskin, a world leading innovator in performance apparel design, this spring introduces the Tapeless 2.0 Jacket, the second iteration of an industry first that eliminates 22 meters (72 feet) of seam-sealing tape through a complete new seam construction.

Traditional seam tape is the weakest component used in the production of outdoor waterproof breathable apparel. Dependent on glues, seam-sealing tape is heavier and diminishes performance by limiting breathability, mobility and durability. Through new Zero Tape sewing technology, the needle does not penetrate the waterproof breathable laminate, but only the outer fabric. The applied technology creates a continuous membrane layer in the jacket without any perforation and therefore no extra seam tapes are needed.

The Tapeless 2.0 Jacket is a comfortable shell designed for hiking and all outdoor adventures that delivers notably freedom of movement and durability through seams that will never leak or fail. Due to its complex cut, the jacket has no shoulder or hip seams to eliminate irritation when worn with a backpack.

Made with Jack Wolfskin’s proven Texapore Core Fuse Stretch Ripstop 3-layer fabric (10,000mm water column; 6,000 MVTR value), the jacket provides significant weather protection in a more comfortable design.
